TownshipHelp was formed in 2004 to help children in the townships to have a chance for a better and secure future.

TownshipHelp oversee all aspects of the projects we support. Their “hands on” approach ensures that visible results are achieved quickly without bureaucracy and unnecessary internal expenses — 100% of the money that TownshipHelp receives from donations goes towards the projects.

The VCC have been supporting TownshipHelp since it's inception and have contributed to TownshipHelp’s successes with their Liwa Primary School and Understand, Hope and Care Orphanage projects.

Liwa Primary School

Nyanga & Gugulethu Township – South Africa

In February 2004 a unique cricket match was held in Nyanga - Gugulethu Township near Cape Town in South Africa between Nyanga Cricket Club and The VCC cricket club from London.

Organized by the ex-Sussex and England professional cricket player Paul Phillipson the VCC team visited Liwa Primary School within the township. As a result of a memorable day we decided to try and do what we could to support the children and staff of the school.

Liwa Primary School is now an oasis of hope within an environment of considerable deprivation with approximately 400 School children, of the age range from four to twelve years, who walk up to four miles a day in adverse conditions from their shanty style homes.

Understand, Hope and Care Orphanage

Khayelitsha Township – South Africa

Mosha is a 35 year old woman with a daughter of 16 years of age. She has already lost a sister and a nephew to Aids. Over 1000 children in South Africa die each week from Aids related illness. As a result of her own tragic experiences Mosha decided to look after abandoned HIV infected children. We now have developed a program, the first part of which has just been completed, in building Mosha a new home, where she houses some of the abandoned children.

The second phase is now underway in building a new orphanage opposite her house in Khayelitsha township with the required ongoing support to ensure that as many HIV infected abandoned children have the opportunity to receive daily anti retro viral medication as well as proper food and shelter.
